Blackwells’ Mazda BT-50 build

 Blackwells Mazda
News and General

Since the earthquakes in the city, Christchurch Mazda dealership Blackwells Mazda has been operating out of sister company Blackwells Commercial’s Sockburn site west of the CBD. But with the move back to brand new , purpose-built showrooms on Moorhouse Avenue, Dealer Principal Seth Ovens wanted to produce an eye-catching promo vehicle to put on display.

With turbo-diesel double-cab utes so popular at the moment it didn’t take long to settle on a BT-50, the idea to show that, with the right mix of genuine and aftermarket accessories the Mazda could look just as good – i.e. tough, uncompromising and ready-for-anything – as it’s pretty much identical under the surface sister ute, the Ford Ranger.

The model they settled on was a 2016 Mazda BT-50 GSX automatic and every part is available either from a Mazda dealer or aftermarket supplier (as listed) here in New Zealand to further enhance its “Bloody Tough” physique.

Key to the transformation is the bright yellow base wrap and carefully curated mix of genuine and aftermarket accessories.

Whether you wanted to replicate it exactly or use it as inspiration for your own build is a matter of budget and personal preference.
