ARB ensures you don’t rough it

Part of the attraction of heading out 4WDing is visiting the remote areas that many other people do not get to travel to. And while “roughing it”might has some appeal, there are times when a bit of comfort can make all the difference.

Whether you’re planning on getting lost for a couple of days, or want to head into the less populated parts of the country, you’ll need some warm and convenient shelter. ARB’s Touring range incorporates the Kakadu and Simpson III rooftop tents, a vehicle mounted awning and outdoor shelter, along with a variety of other optional accessories to cater for all of your camping needs.

Unfolding in minutes, a rooftop tent provides sleeping quarters off the ground, protected from the elements.Spacious and comfortable, all bedding can remain inside the tent during the journey, freeing up vital storage space in the vehicle, and allowing the tent to be quickly and easily packed away.

ARB retractable awnings are easy to mount and operate, and fit on to the side of a roof rack, conveniently stored for immediate use on arrival.

Specifically designed for harsh Outback conditions, the awnings are rugged but lightweight, and provide fast and convenient protection from the elements.

To complement ARB Touring awnings, a range of easy to assemble awning accessories are available to keep you cool, dry, comfortable and pest free while you enjoy your surroundings.

The awning room with floor is designed to function as a fully enclosed room to provide additional weather protection and privacy.

Another approach is the ARB wind breaks. Designed to angle out from ARB Touring awnings, wind breaks offer additional protection from the rain and with a UVP50+ rating also provides extra shade and sun protection.

And then there’s the vital ARB mosquito net, which is manufactured from 48gsm midge proof mesh and is available for both the 2000 and 2500 model ARB Touring awnings. This updated version of the original mosquito net room is now larger and includes a mud/storm flap to reduce grass seeds etc from collecting in the lower section of the mesh.

However, if you like to get closer to nature there’s the ARB SkyDome Swag, which incorporates the latest in swag design and comfort, and includes both single and double configurations.

Of course, you’ll need a light at night, and the ARB rechargeable LED Adventure Light  offers five hours of run time, and can be charged via the included 12V DC charge lead or 240V AC adaptor. A high capacity 7.4V/2200mAh lithium battery ensures an extensive service life.

Rated to 120kg, the ARB Air Locker camping chair has a host of features, including a padded seat and backrest, convenient drink holder pouch, side pocket with Velcro flap for your keys, wallet or other small items, and a mesh magazine pocket on the rear of the backrest.

Stylish in design, ARB’s Stormproof Bags come in two sizes and feature PU coated Oxford weave fabric and rubberised construction, with all seams heat sealed and taped to ensure high water resistance.

Insulated to keep your food and drinks cool on warmer days, the ARB Cooler Bag incorporates strong carry straps with a padded handle, external elastic strap for packing additional items, an external zip and Velcro pockets for smaller items such as keys, wallet and phone.

Adding to ARB’s range of cargo gear products, the ARB toiletries bag keeps personal hygiene products together in a compact manner.

The ARB portable fridge freezer was developed in Australia to handle extreme conditions and is available in 35, 47, 60 and 78-litre capacities, all backed by a comprehensive three-year warranty.

Shade products for summer

Rhino-Rack has a wide selection of shade-related products ready for the upcoming summer season.

The varied shade range that they have takes two forms, the 270 degree swing out, Foxwing range which is available in one of two sizes and also the Sunseeker pull out awning range, again able to be provided in two sizes enabling smaller or larger vehicles to be catered to.

An additional awning, the Sunseeker Dome 130 is a little different in that it can be fitted across the rear of a vehicle and features a domed roof, making it suitable for low roof passenger and tall vehicles alike.

And then there’s the new Sunseeker Black 32133 product, which is entirely self-contained and rolls out easily from and repacks into its roof rack carried black zip up PVC bag.

Its fold out telescopic poles hinge out to stabilise the olive coloured rip-stop, waterproof and mould resistant fabric. Additional stowed poles hinge down to support the awning before the included guy ropes and pegs finally secure the unit.

The chassis of the unit is finished in a black finished aluminium extrusion with the integrated  poles likewise  matched in the same black paint finish.

This unit is 2.5m long and extends outward 2.0m. Additional optional extras can include a zip on, same size extension panel that come with poles thereby doubling the available surface area. There are also side panels that can be attached that all but enclose the unit.

Brackets that are provided with this awning allow fitment to most common roof racks as well as being able to fit to directly to Rhino-Rack’s Pioneer luggage platform and tray product.

Even more from Oztent

Everybody’s heard about the iconic Oztent, the Australian marvel that takes just 30 seconds to erect, even in the dark.

What’s more it can be done by one person. But now the company has come up with a couple of even more exciting developments.

The first is the Oztent Screen House Hex, perfect for your next outdoor adventure. It easily pops into shape in seconds to provide you with shelter. An evolution from Oztent’s renowned Screen Rooms, the Screen House Hex features all-new ultra tough mechanisms.

Optional walls are available to Velcro to each side to provide extra protection when needed.

And when you’ve finished, what better way to spend your time than with your feet up. The Oztent Side Kick is a foot rest, table and stool all in one.

It can be used as a fishing stool, a footrest, a small table or even somewhere to put your portable fridge, achieving all this through a clever transforming design.

The hard side-flap folds out of the way for use as a stool or footrest, or can be secured to the top of the Sidekick to convert it into a stable surface to place your fridge or other camping gear.

The Sidekick is made with a steel frame and is weight rated to 110kg. Not only that, but due to its design, when you fold down your Sidekick it is only about 4cm wide, so you can easily find space to fit it in for any trip!
