Molesworth High Country tour

Get away from it all into the picturesque South Island High Country. Bring your 4WD, your wife, mate or partner, and enjoy a driving holiday to discover Molesworth Station with the Molesworth Tour Company.
The Blenheim-based company has been taking 4WD tours for 22 years.  From central Blenheim it is a round trip of 600km through the high country behind the Kaikoura Ranges, including the route through the remote 180,476ha of Molesworth.
You will be introduced to driving on dry land high country farms and stations, local personalities will keep you entertained with never-ending stories that makes station life real, and you will be well cared-for with good meals and high country picnics and coffee breaks with all the trimmings.
Geoff Swift likes to guide these tours himself, and his bright yellow FJ Cruiser is a good beacon to follow. The trip is a good balance of varied driving off the main public access route, and incorporates an overnight stay on a merino and angus station, high in the beautiful Awatere Valley.
Here you can spend a day tagging along with the station owner over his backcountry tracks, with the reward of amazing views seen by few. You can hear about his family’s long heritage on the station, and his passion for the High Country lifestyle over a meal in the family homestead.
Then it’s on towards the mighty Molesworth Station, with its rounded hills and shimmering tussock land and rich history. Visit locations such as Lake Tennyson and Tarndale Lakes, and drive through the rugged Rainbow Station, with its contrasting craggy mountains and beech forests. Enjoy a stay in Hanmer Springs, with dinner and time to relax in the thermal pools.
