Nissan restomod

News and General

There aren’t many of these trucks rolling down the byways of New Zealand, nor even in this Nissan’s dry, warm home state of Nevada.

Keen observers will see the similarity to Toyota’s mighty (and much more numerous) Land Cruiser. The Patrol KL60 was around at the same time and was Nissan’s rival to the 40 Series.

This 1969 one was originally purchased out of Washington state from a hydraulic engineer who had painstakingly maintained the motor and drivetrain. It has travelled just under 160,000 km (100,000 miles).

The stock engine received a new carburettor – a Gronk Performance-tuned MotorCraft 2150 with electric/automatic choke.
Extensive resto work went into the panel and paint.

It’s been built with off-roading in mind, with stronger front end, diff locks, winch, a gentle body lift and a disc brake conversion. Land Cruiser and Land Rover components have been used in the resto.

One of the best things about the USA is the number of areas where humidity is low, which means old metal stays good for longer.
