Take the Challenge

Events

By Andrew Gee

If you have been off roading for a while then the next step could be trying your hand at some friendly competition.  Which is where the popular Central  Zone Club Truck Challenge comes in.

Registered and warranted vehicles are matched together in four different classes to allow for modifications and then it's left to your driving skill.  The driving tests are setup in the same way as used in 4WD trials events and individually scored according to how far you can get through the terrain.  This competition gives drivers lots of seat time and a good way to improve your limits.

The new season of the Club Truck Challenge is due to start with three rounds to be run before Christmas this year.  Coming back off our best season yet when Central Zone clubs ran six rounds last year, we have retained the support of the NZFWDA for another run out this year.

(Initial) Calendar

Central Zone Club Truck Challenge

Rnd 1: Sept 24 2017. Manawatu 4WD club at Ratana

Rnd 2: Oct 21-22 2017. Mt Egmont 4WD club in Taranaki

Rnd 3: Nov 11 2017. Wellington Jeep Club at Orongorongo station

Previous competitors and series winners Marty Green and Dave McGinnity have said they will return to the Challenge again.  While others hope to spring a surprize from fitting new modifications and new tyres to their vehicles.

Keep checking www.czctc.org.nz to see when an event is nearby and get out and see what they are about, better still jump in and test yourself.
