What, when and how much?

News and General

It’s on its way here now for an April ’18 launch and Mercedes-Benz has just announced local X-Class ute range and pricing details.

M-B Van dealers around the country will have 13 different models for you to pick and choose from, across three ‘grades,’ basic Pure, mid-range Progressive and top end Power.

Common to all is a 2.3 litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, albeit in two power levels, 120kW with single turbo and 140kW with twin puffers helping things along.

Entry level dollar-wise is just $53,300,  but that is for a RWD-only 120kW 6-speed manual cab/chassis unit. The cheapest wellside is the 120kW Pure RWD with 6-speed manual with an RRP of $54,200.

However, to match a typical – say – auto trans XLT-spec Ford Ranger you’re going to have to pay $63,000 for a Progressive-spec 7-speed auto with 140kW twin-turbo engine and M-B’s engageable 4matic 4WD drive system, low-range transfer case and lockable rear diff.

And if you want a match for your top-of-the-line Wildtrak auto you need Power spec 4matic 7-speed which will set you back $69,000.

Later in 2018 M-B will also add a VW Amorok V6-matching 190kW/550Nm V6-turbo-diesel with permanent 4matic 4WD with pricing to be announced early in the New Year.
