The Ironman 4x4 brand and product range is well established at home in Australia and now in at least 20 other countries around the world, including New Zealand.
The company makes, markets and sells – literally – everything anyone might need to both improve their 4x4 and enhance the experience of getting out and enjoying the great outdoors in it.
Check out the company’s dedicated New Zealand website (at www.ironman4x4.co.nz), click on the Catalogue button along the top of the page and see for yourself.
Better still, if you live within driving distance of Hamilton – or are visiting, say, for Fieldays – you can get a tantalising snapshot of what Ironman 4x4 has to offer at the company’s latest ‘Destination Store,’ Ironman 4x4 Hamilton, at 289 Kahikatea Drive, Frankton.
The parent company in Australia has invested heavily in getting the look and feel of its ‘Destination Store’ model just right, and New Zealand importer, Christchurch-based Terraquip NZ Ltd is leading from the front.
Last year, as reported in NZ4WD, the company opened the country’s first such store 176 Waterloo Road in Hornby, Christchurch. And in April this year Hamilton-based auto electrical and mechanical and automotive air conditioning specialist P&B Group added the Waikato area’s first dedicated Ironman 4x4 destination store to its growing portfolio of businesses.
Company director John Boswell says he was aware of the Ironman 4x4 name from when he lived and worked across the Tasman, so when a customer asked about a bullbar that was the name he Googled.
Impressed with what he found, he got in touch with NZ distributor Terraquip and was invited to ‘check out what else we have got’ at the next Fieldays (just down the road) at Mystery Creek.
Seed well and truly sown, Boswell and his business partner ‘acquired the dealership rights for the area and jumped on board.’
Shop manager – and Ironman Product Specialist – Aiden Barr reports broad interest across the entire Ironman 4x4 range with suspension upgrades currently the single most popular drawcard, something both he and John Boswell believe has a lot to do with the fact that – through the allied businesses in the P&B Group they offer a full installation service.
“New vehicles, old vehicles, whether it is a simple bolt-on or there is some complex fabrication involved, using the services of all our allied companies in the P&B Group we can do it.”
Also popular are Ironman 4x4’s various recovery kits, camping gear including portable fridges, and – of course – rooftop tents.
“They went crazy when we first brought them in,” says John. “Over the summer months we actually sold out of stock twice, and at Fieldays this year we had literally thousands of people through the one we had on display. So yes, you could say that rooftop tents are very popular right now.”
