The 2.7-litre turbodiesel in the Discovery 4 is being replaced by a 155kW 3-litre twin turbodiesel engine (TDV6). The 0-100km time has gone from 12.7 seconds to 10.7 seconds.
The engine has been further improved with a reduction in CO2 emissions from 244g/km to 224g/km thanks to a low-flow fuel injection system and a new, highly efficient, ZF 8HP70, 8-speed automatic transmission. Combined fuel consumption is also down from 10.2 L/100km to 8.8 L/100km.   

Replacing the 6-speed transmission, the new 8-speed transmission also benefits the higher powered 3.0-litre twin turbo diesel engine (SDV6) with an increase in power output from 180kW to 183kW. The 0-100km time has improved from 9.6 seconds to 9.3 seconds.
The new transmission helps drive down CO2 emissions from 244g/km to 230g/km and combined fuel consumption is now 8.8Ll/100lm from 9.3 L/100km.
In conjunction with the new transmission, the Discovery 4 is now equipped with the rotary gear shift selector and steering wheel-mounted paddle shift.  
Along with the upgraded engine and transmission the Discovery 4 TDV6 SE is also getting a new specification level for 2013.

Standard features such as 19inch 10 spoke alloy wheels, keyless start, seven leather seats, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity to name a few. The TDV6 SE also has the same high level of off road specification as the HSE: centre electronic locking differential with low range transfer box, permanent four wheel drive, electronic air suspension and Land Rover’s renowned Terrain Response system.
