Elite Drive launches new ECU tuning kits
New products, big plans: as the company’s ‘plug and play’ throttle controllers hit new heights of popularity, Elite Drive has launched an all-new ECU-specific tuning kit that works from a dyno-tuned data profile for popular 4WDs.
The company’s original throttle controllers have met an enthusiastic response in New Zealand and overseas, and are now rolling out to the company’s rapidly expanding retail dealer/agent network with updated modules and controllers.
Now the company is launching a dyno-derived ECU tuning module that offers gains in fuel efficiency, power and torque. Co-owner Richard Clapham says the new module manages fuel rail pressure and boost levels to ensure the engine still receives the correct air-fuel ratio.
“Many of the kits on the market just turn up the fuel pressure to get more power, resulting in a ‘dirty’ engine and a smoky exhaust. That’s always going to damage components,” he said.
The Elite Drive unit works smart to ‘fatten’ the torque profile of the engine, enabling it to produce big numbers from lower rpm for longer, reducing turbo lag and improving all round drive-ability.
“We aim for real-world gains, not crazy numbers. A realistic 30 per cent gain is usually achievable through the midrange, which can add around 70 Nm of torque to many engines. And with fuel prices creeping up and up, it’s reassuring to know our unit creates more power using less revs, meaning you save fuel too!”
Resale value is another consideration. Because the units are ‘plug and play’ and can in fact be installed by any DIY-capable owner, they can also be easily removed when it’s time to change vehicles. The module is able to be reprogrammed for the new vehicle.
The units can also be fitted on a drive-in, drive-out basis at any Mag and Turbo outlet across New Zealand, and work seamlessly with the company’s throttle controllers, also available at all Mag and Turbo stores.
“So owners can enjoy a complete performance package with Power Module and our Smart Throttle for $1390 drive-away.”
Elite Drive aims to become ‘world famous down-under’ – and in fact across the Asia-Pacific region. It is now making products available in Australia, Singapore, the UK and has plans to move into the American market. In New Zealand, their dealer network consists of 135 outlets including all Mag and Turbo stores and many others at convenient locations across New Zealand (see their website for dealers).
