Cupra Launches the All-Electric Tavascan

New and tested 4WDs

Cupra New Zealand is excited to welcome the all-new Tavascan – the brand’s first fully electric SUV coupé. With its sculpted, aerodynamic design and a driver-centric interior, the Tavascan represents a bold leap forward in Cupra’s journey toward electrified performance. The Tavascan electrifies Cupra’s performance vision rather than replacing it, marking a pivotal step as the brand expands its portfolio across both electric and ICE vehicles.

Two model variants will be available locally – the Tavascan V and the Tavascan VZ – each offering its own unique blend of power, range and technology.

The Tavascan V features a rear-wheel drive powertrain with a maximum output of 210kW. Designed for everyday performance and efficiency, it offers an electric driving range of up to 534 kilometres (WLTP).

The Tavascan VZ delivers 250kW through a dual-motor, all-wheel drive system. With strong acceleration and excellent traction across all four wheels. It has an electric range of up to 499 kilometres (WLTP) and introduces Cupra’s advanced Dynamic Chassis Control with sport suspension. This system continuously adjusts the suspension response in real time, allowing the vehicle to adapt to different road conditions and driving styles.

Both variants of the Tavascan come equipped with a comprehensive suite of advanced features. These include adaptive cruise control, side assist with exit warning, and a rear and top view 360-degree camera system that enhances visibility in tight spaces. Lane assist and high beam assist provide additional support behind the wheel, while seamless smartphone integration is delivered through Bluetooth and full SmartLink compatibility. A 12-speaker Sennheiser sound system is fitted as standard, offering a premium audio experience that complements the vehicle’s modern, immersive cabin. Drivers can also tailor the vehicle’s dynamics using Cupra Drive Mode Select.

Cupra National Sales Manager, Clinton Baird, believes the two-variant line-up is well suited to the New Zealand market. “The Tavascan V will appeal to those looking for everyday electric performance and exceptional range, while the VZ takes it up a level with its dual-motor drivetrain and sport chassis.”

The Cupra Tavascan will officially arrive in New Zealand this October. However, from 15 August, an early preview vehicle will be touring the country, giving individuals the opportunity to experience the Tavascan up close ahead of its launch.
