Making overlanding and adventuring more fun

No matter if the ride is old-school cool or ultra-modern, off-road adventures go best when time has been invested in the right kit-out for the planned excursion.
In fact, for many, sorting the spec is half the fun of the trip.
We have all seen those YouTube videos where a winching solution is applied to a mud bog and the pull is too much for stock gear. The front flies off. Funny on video, but less so if it’s your pride and joy.
By all means drop a winch on the front – but add it to a proper ‘hardened’ aftermarket bumper that feeds the stresses safely back into the chassis. Got the fresh bumper/bullbar ? Good-oh. Have a look at protecting the rear of the vehicle too. There are great solutions for the back ends of most vehicles. They can save those embarrassing moments when reversing under the tree canopy and finding rocks in long grass.
Getting back in, all muddy and sweaty is much more pleasant with a set of decent seat covers – ones that can be taken out, hosed off and dried at camp.
Talk about roughing it – these days there’s even a cool way to warm up some water to wash off with at camp. No more billy water over a campfire or gas stove.
Take the luxuries that make roughing it so much more pleasant, and get smart about how the luxuries are powered. Nobody needs a howl of complaint when campsite lights go out unexpectedly, or that banshee wail of a teenager deprived of power for their iPad.
Do the prep and bask in the admiration of your fellow adventurers. It’s worth it.
