Premcar joins with Mitsubishi to create Raider

News and General

Premcar, the leading new-vehicle engineering and secondary manufacturing specialist, has announced it is working with Mitsubishi Motors Australia.

The first vehicle produced under the alliance is the Mitsubishi Triton Raider.

This rally raid-inspired version of the Mitsubishi Triton dual-cab 4WD ute is based on the GSR model grade (MY2026) and has a re-engineered suspension system with a 25mm lift and 25mm wider track designed for a wide variety of Australian driving conditions.

The new Premcar-developed Triton Raider also features various external enhancements, including unique ROH alloy wheels, all-terrain tyres and underbody protection to guard against rugged terrain.

The Triton Raider will be secondary manufactured by Premcar in Melbourne, Australia.

“This first-ever Mitsubishi Triton Raider has been developed for even greater driving enjoyment in Australia’s tough conditions,” said Bernie Quinn, CEO of Premcar.

“Mitsubishi Motors Australia worked closely with Premcar to create this new top-of-the-range version of the Triton 4x4. The locally developed Triton Raider delivers more of what specific Triton buyers want – without sacrificing any of the Triton GSR’s capabilities, such as its 3,500-kilogram towing capacity and GVM (gross vehicle mass).”

The new Triton Raider takes inspiration from Mitsubishi’s legendary successes in long-distance cross-country racing, such as the famous Paris-Dakar Rally, which the brand first won in 1985, and today’s Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR) series.

The Mitsubishi Triton Raider’s Australian engineering program involved 47,000 kilometres of vehicle development and testing in Victoria, South Australia, the Northern Territory and New South Wales.

“The result is a fun-to-drive Triton with enhanced driving dynamics on gravel roads, and even greater off-road capability,” said Quinn.

“The Premcar team is proud to have been selected for this opportunity, which further extends Australia’s automotive engineering and secondary manufacturing capabilities.”
