Ram Laramie Sport

News and General

Big pickups are still hot property.

Amid rising sales of US pickups in Australia, Ram Trucks has added a new model to bridge the gap between the cheapest and dearest variants. Australia’s biggest seller of US pickups has added another Ram 1500 variant to its range, to plug the gap between the cheapest and the dearest models.

In Australia, the Ram 1500 is outselling Jeep Gladiator, Nissan Navara, Volkswagen Amarok and Toyota Land Cruiser single and double cab-chassis.

While the majority of the current Ram 1500 line-up in Australia ranges from AUD$98,950 to $156,950, the newly-introduced Ram 1500 Laramie Sport is priced from AUD$136,950 plus on-road costs. The high-performance supercharged TRX tops the range at AUD$224,950. A bit more in NZD, obviously.

The Ram 1500 Laramie Sport has colour-coded bumpers, grille and side mirrors, black roof-lining, carbon-fibre-look trim in the dash and doors, a 12-inch widescreen digital instrument cluster, unique 20-inch alloy wheels, and RamBox cargo storage in the rear fenders. Three colours are available: white, black and grey.

Safety technology includes:
• Autonomous emergency braking.
• Blind-zone warning.
• Rear cross-traffic alert.
• 360-degree camera view.
• Lane-keeping assistance.
• Radar cruise control.
• Front and rear parking sensors.

The Laramie Sport shares the range’s 5.7-litre V8 (291kW/556Nm) paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive.

Maximum towing capacity is rated at 4,500kg (depending on the hitch), while 3,500kg towing is possible on a standard tow ball.

Ram Trucks Australia is the world’s only Ram-authorised re-manufacturer of right-hand-drive Ram pickups.

All vehicles sold via official Ram Trucks Australia dealers – through 68 showrooms nationally – are uniquely coded on the US production line for Australia and New Zealand.

They are then shipped to Australia and remanufactured to right-hand-drive in Melbourne to OEM safety and quality standards using more than 1000 locally developed and engineered parts.
