Ford resets its best seller

The Ranger range gets reset for 2026
New and tested 4WDs

There's big change for Ford's Ranger family.

The company recently announced it will delete the bi-turbo four cylinder diesel engine, replacing it with a single-turbo unit, in a move designed to improve the brand's global emissions compliance.

That change will also be implemented in the Ranger-based Everest SUV family, once existing stocks of bi-turbo vehicles have been sold.

Continuing in the upper reaches of both ranges is the 3.0-litre turbodiesel V6, while the Ranger's PHEV versions (XLT, Wildtrak and Stormtrak) will continue to use the company's 2.3-litre petrol four cylinder engine. Raptor V6 retains its 3.0-litre turbo petrol V6.

The recently-launched ranger Super Duty (pictured) will arrive next year. It uses the turbodiesel V6 and has a 4,500kg braked towing capacity, filling a market niche currently vacant in this country.
