Maximum quality, locally made

Products

You may have heard murmurs about a new player in the automotive accessories market. Well, we can confirm that the rumours were true! Maxim launched with a hiss and roar at the South Island Field Days event in March and has been well received in the market by dealers and tradies alike.

Seemingly a new arrival in the industry, Maxim Automotive is in fact owned by the directors of Towbar Express, makers of the industry leading LOCKON aftermarket brand of Towbar. The company, owned by Al Smith, Clyde McCready, and John Maskill, has been at the forefront of towbar manufacture since its inception in 2002.

“Maxim is an exciting new venture for us,” says co-owner John Maskill. “We’re delighted to be bringing a new line of high-quality, New Zealand-made automotive products to the OEM and Fleet markets. Maxim’s vision is to create better connections: this is achieved through customer focused, safe, innovative, and smart products. We want to showcase the benefits of local efficient manufacture, together with a strong relationship-focused service.”

Maxim officially launched the brand with the release of its Maxim Hard Lids, a durable, secure, and super strong product. Maxim lids come with a range of options including tie down rails, lashing rings, dog stays and the quick release function means you can have the lid off in under a minute.

The finish options include durable black powder coated or mill finish, so your ute always looks good and if you are buying one for your work truck you can even get the rails customised with your company name. The lid itself has a 200kg load capacity and its compression latches ensure a positive seal for weather resistance and security.

Specifically designed for the new vehicle and fleet market Maxim Hard Lids and future products will be available direct from your local dealership or fleet fitout company.

Maxim Automotive will have a base of operations in Auckland from mid-2021 and is currently manufacturing in Christchurch. Their quick turn around and speedy delivery service means you can have your lid delivered to plan.

It’s exciting to see a New Zealand company bringing more competition to the market. What’s next for Maxim Automotive? Look out for Maxim towbars, due for release later in 2021.
