Exide batteries made specifically for the Australasian market

Exide batteries are supplied in New Zealand by Ramcar, the company that manufactures some of the biggest battery brands on the market.

There are a lot of battery brands available in New Zealand, yet many of them are made in the same factories.

Ramcar manufactures and designs its batteries in its own production facility and builds batteries specifically for the Australasian environment.

Mark Johnson, National Sales Manager for New Zealand says the strength of the Exide brand is that the comprehensive range offered is tailored for use in local conditions.
Exide also provides one of the industry’s longest warranty coverage periods.

Exide batteries offer the latest technology and premium quality products. Their AP9/SNT construction technology is geared to deliver the extra performance that is demanded by modern vehicles, small family cars, SUVs, farm trucks and tractors. It improves cold-cranking amps, reserve capacity, and amp hours. An additive called 2XT takes these gains further and improves plate strength giving a longer life and greater reliability.

Automotive batteries have been the core of Ramcar’s business for all kinds of vehicles from golf carts to jet skis, but the company is also developing batteries specialised in industrial and recreational applications.

Mr Johnson says one of the strengths of Ramcar is that it is a vertically-integrated company that doesn’t have to rely on bought-in components. Ramon Caro (the originator of the business and the source of the Ramcar name) started out in an auto electrical workshop in 1917. The company soon moved into the battery business and later battery recycling and lead smelting to secure its raw materials and reduce the environmental impact of dumped batteries.

The company’s Evergreen recycling plant in Manila uses state-of-the-art technology to produce lead of 99.97 percent purity, and its lead smelter is the only one to have achieved ISO14001 environmental certification.
