KYB’s Skorched 4 shock absorbers

Products

The KYB Skorched4 range was specifically engineered as a lifted height heavy-duty upgrade for OE shock absorbers. Designed with a large 35mm bore and incorporating an increased oil capacity to reduce overheating while in operation the Skorched4’s range of shock absorbers provide superior handling and ride control for both on and off-road conditions.

Skorched4’s Shock Absorbers are designed to provide extra wheel travel of up to 30-50mm for lifted vehicles.

The range of KYB Heavy Duty shock absorbers tailored to suit 4WD vehicles has been recently extended in New Zealand by Stocks.

These shock absorbers were designed by Japanese engineers in conjunction with a team of off-road specialists in Australia.

With the harsh Australian off-road conditions in mind, such as pounding over endless kilometres of gravel this makes them ideal for less extreme New Zealand conditions.

The new Skorched4 twin-tube, gas-filled shock absorbers are made to heavy-duty specifications and are engineered to provide superior handling and control in both off-road and on-road driving. Described as ‘touring’ shock absorbers, they are engineered to withstand high-speed shock movement over unmade roads, typically found when off the beaten track in New Zealand.

Such rapid movement generates considerable heat, which can quickly render a sub-standard shock absorber ineffective. Skorched4s are accurately valved to minimise unnecessary movement and provide the driver with sure-footed control.

KYB employs a four-step top seal to keep dirt and other foreign matter out and uses increased diameter bodies and 16mm piston rods to maximise oil volume in the working cylinder.

Greater oil volume results in slower heat buildup, extending shock absorber life. Skorched4 matched with KING coil and KYB leaf springs provide extra wheel travel and an overall suspension system that works to keep the wheels in contact with the road surface.

Their velocity-sensitive valving is a perfect combination for both original equipment and aftermarket coil and leaf springs further improving handling with reduced nose diving under braking, flatter cornering, added towing benefits and a more precise feel, both on and off the road.

The Skorched 4 range covers Ford Ranger, Holden Colorado, Isuzu D-Max, Mazda BT-50, Mitsubishi Challenger, Pajero and Triton, Nissan Navara, Pathfinder and Patrol, Suzuki Jimny, Toyota Hilux, Landcruiser and Prado models.

KYB is the first choice for many in the New Zealand aftermarket being the world’s largest OE manufacturer of shock absorbers and a supplier not only to Japanese vehicle brands but also to American, Chinese, European and Korean manufacturers.
